Kinloch Rannoch - Ceann Loch Raineach

The early Parish of Fortingall boundaries were established following the Reformation in the 1500's. It includes Glenlyon to the south, as both were part of Atholl. Following the establishment of the Campbells of Breadalbane in 1680, the area of Glenlyon was considered part of Breadalbane, while Rannoch continued to be part of Atholl. The later boundaries were established following 1889-92.

The parish boundaries of 1840 (red) incorporated portions of the parish of 1930 (black) in Logierait parish.

Braes of Rannoch - Braigh Raineach:

The Braes of Rannoch stretch along the west shore of Loch Rannoch.

• Dunan

  Dùnan - "Conical hillocks". A farm west of Loch Rannoch on the north bank of the Gaoire.

• Cor a'Dùnan

  "End of hillocks". A farm on the south bank of the Gaoire from Dunan.

• George Town/Rannoch Barracks/Braes of Rannoch

  Braigh Raineach - "Braes of Rannoch". Barracks on the south bank of the Gaoire on the west end of Loch Rannoch. Redcoat barracks of the '45.

• Invercomrie

  Inbhir Cuimrigh - "River mouth of the sanctuary". A farm on the south bank of the Gaoire.

• Creagbhuidhe

  Craig bhuidhe - "Yellow rocks". A farm on the south bank of the Gaoire.

• Tigh na Linn

  Houses on the south bank of the Gaoire at the Bridge of Gaoire.

• Kenaclacher

  Ceann a' Chlachair - "End-land of the stonemason". Farms/estate west of Loch Rannoch north of George Town. Older maps show Claggan.

• Rannoch Lodge

  Lodge/estate on the west shore of Loch Rannoch.

Southshore of Loch Rannoch - Slios Garbh:

The district of Slios Garbh - "The Rough Side" - stretches along the south shore of Loch Rannoch from Finnart to Altruigh. Traditionally Robertson Lands.

• Little Finnart

  Fionnairdbeg - "Little white headland". A farm and school southwest side of Loch Rannoch.

• Finnart

  Fionnaird - "White headland". Farms southwest side of Loch Rannoch. Easter and wester.

• Altachlaggan/Altchlochern

  Farms north of Kenchlacher and Rannoch Lodge.

• Camghouran

  Camgharan - "Crooked river". A farm on the southwest side of Loch Rannoch, east of Finnart. Wester, Mid and Easter.

• Eilean Mor

  Eilean Mor - "Larege island". Farm to the north of Camghouran.

• Crosscraig Cottage

  Cottage to the north of Camghouran on the south shore of Loch Rannoch.

• Dall (formerly part of Logierait)

  "Dark or blind" - Farms east of Camghouran on the south side of Loch Rannoch.

• Carie (formerly part of Logierait)

  Càraidh - "Weir". Farms east of Dall on the south side of Loch Rannoch.

• Altruigh (formerly part of Logierait)

  Allt Druidh - Farms east of Carie on the south side of Loch Rannoch.

Northshore of Loch Rannoch - Slios Min:

The district of Slios Min - "The Smooith Side" - stretches along the north shore of Loch Rannoch from Camasericht to Clach-ghlas. Traditionally Menzies Lands.

• Camasericht

  Camas Eireachd - "Harbour of the River Ericht". Farms on the northwest side of Loch Rannoch on the west bank of the River Ericht. Camaserichtbeg and Camaserichtmore.

• Cullmullen

  Cul a' Mhuilinn - "Back of the Mill". A farm on the northwest side of Loch Rannoch on the east bank of the River Ericht.

• Ardlarich

  Àird Làraich - "Farm in the high wood". Farms/estate on the northwest side of Loch Rannoch on the east bank of the River Ericht.

• Aldtonagan

  Farms adjacent to Ardlarich.

• Kilchonan

  Cill Chonain - "Church of St. Conan". Village on the northwest side of Loch Rannoch east of Ardlarich.

• Newton

  Baile ùr - "New Town". A farm/houses adjacent and southeast of Kilchonan.

• Learan

  A farm on the northwest side of Loch Rannoch.

• Balnacraig

  Baile na creag - "Town of the rocks". A farm adjacent to Learan.

• Aulich

  Abhlaich - "Root of stream". A farm/estate on the north side of Loch Rannoch.

• Craiganour

  Creagan Odhar - "Rock cliffs" or Creag an Iubhair - "Crag of the yew". A farm/estate on the north side of Loch Rannoch east of Aulich.

• Annet

  An Annaid - "The old church". A farm/estate on the northeast side of Loch Rannoch.

• Learagan

  "Larches" or "Sloping green side of a hill". A farm on the northeast side of Loch Rannoch east of Annet.

• Lann Bhreac

  "Speckled enclosure". A farm on the northwest of Annet.

• Torr a'Chruidh

  "Bull Cattle". A farm on the north of Annet.

• Clach-ghlas

  A farm between Learagan and Kinloch Rannoch on the north shore of Loch Rannoch.

Bunrannoch - Bun Raineach:

"The bottom of Rannoch". The area stretches from Kinloch Rannoch on the east shore of Loch Rannoch down the south shore of the River Tummel to Tullicroisk.

  Ceann Loch Raineach - "End of Loch Rannoch - the lake of bracken ferns". A village on the east side of Loch Rannoch.

• Inverhadden

  Inbhir Chadain - "The mouth of the warlike river". Farms/village southeast of Kinloch Rannoch.

• Dalchosnie

  Dail Chosnaidh - "Field of fighting". Farm/eastate east of Inverhadden.

• Tempar

  Tionndadh - "Turning". West and East. Farms east of Inverhadden.

  Marg Mhór - "Big merkland". Farms near Tempar.

• Lassintullich

  Glas an Tulaich - "Green hillock". Farms/village east of Tempar.

The district of Dun Alastair stretches from the north shore of the River Tummel to Glen Erichdie to the north with Bohespic bordering on the east and Druimchastle to the west.
